Serren Fore
The first instruments you hear are the drums which begin the song in a pounding, ‘tribalistic’ manner, reminiscent of a Radiohead track (the name escapes me!) from a generation ago. Continuing the Radiohead comparison, when the vocals kick in, it’s in a very haunting style similar to that of Thom Yorke. This is all GOOD though – a nice change to the numerous pop-punk/rock bands around at the moment who apply minimal effort, have minimal talent and write basic, ’shouty’ songs (the Ting-Tings for example!)
Serren Fore display impressive musicianship and good songwriting in ‘Pipers’ and perhaps it’s my stereotypical southerner’s view of ’scouse’ bands but it is a refreshing change to hear a Liverpool band that doesn’t sound like it comes straight from the 90’s mould that produced The La’s, Cast, etc. KEEP YOUR EYES AND EARS ON THIS BAND – this kind of quality is rare.
