The city’s diverse musical melting pot was a heady influence on James and his stint spent working on Liverpool docks was a great learning experience. After quitting the day job James fronted several different line-ups, playing a rock’n’roll-meets-new-wave guitar style music; and releasing records on the Liverpool indie label Probe Records. James has just completed his new album “Walk the Bridge”. For this album James went back to his roots, using acoustic guitars, mandolin and violin, as well as a rhythm section and featuring Henry Priestman on accordion.

Back in March Band In A Box TV met up with the terrific acoustic artist Rob Clarke to film a selection of his newest works, straight off his upcoming album, Portraits.

Taking influence from the tales of individuals; past and present, Rob depicts their lives with a storyteller’s precision. That combined with the gentle nature of his music creates an experience in each and every song.

In this interview Rob talks to us about the forthcoming album and what journey was undertaken to produce this work of art.

Rob Clarke has also been featured in the Catacoustic and Red Kite compilations of Liverpool music and in a live session, interview and airplay on BBC Radio Merseyside’s Dave Monks show ‘The Pool’ plus received US airplay on Jann Turner’s New York internet radio show ‘The Liverpool Zone’.

Live Review from Nerve Magazine (Amanda DeAngeles)…. ‘Rob Clarke was in finest form… He got a fantastic response from the crowd. He’s a masculine, gentleman with a wonderful voice. Go and see him play and buy his CD. I can’t choose a favourite; it depends on my mood I suppose. Rob has something for everyone’….
